Orleans Island, the cradle of French America, is the most important historical site of Quebec since it includes close to 600 repatriated sites with a big patrimonial wealth. The religious patrimonial is inestimable.
Each parish possesses its own treasure; the tourists can admire the splendor of the churches and some of their ancient liturgical objects. Because of their accessibility to the river, the inhabitants of the island have developed a big expertise in naval construction.
The river does not have any secret for the Orleanais; still today the pilots meet the boats coming from other countries and guide them to the Quebec pier in the canal. The house architecture is remarkable. Stone houses with mansard roofs inspired from the English style are the jewels of our Island and its inhabitants are very proud of it.
The reputation of the fertile earth attracts numerous visitors looking for fresh fruits and vegetables during the harvest season.
